‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 9 spoilers: An honor eight years in the making

How I Met Your MotherWhen you look at the history of “How I Met Your Mother,” there is one word that we would often use to describe its relationship with many major awards shows: Under-appreciated. While it has at times been able to dig up the occasional nomination, it has never really received the sort of accolades that something with nearly a decade of history and strong performances show deserves. Take, for example, many seasons of Neil Patrick Harris bringing his “A” game … or how Jason Segel ripped out his heart and showed it to us back in season 6.

Luckily, we’re to report now that the show is at least going down in history in a way that stretches beyond just having episodes available on iTunes and DVDs in stores: A name on the plaque at the show’s soundstage on the Fox lot. (The show is produced by 20th Century Fox TV.)

PlaqueThe image attached here was first posted by executive producer Craig Thomas, and it shows that there really is quite a bit of classic TV and films that took place here. Of course, the things that stand out to most to us on here outside of “How I Met Your Mother” are “Doctor Dolittle,” “Dharma & Greg,” and anything related to “Planet of the Apes.” All fine productions for completely different reasons, especially since the two movies in particular proved that cool things could be done without CGI.

Granted, we also realize that this image does also in some way present us with an even greater sense of finality that this show is in fact coming to a close after such a great run. There are 24 episodes ahead; here’s to hoping that they will be great.
