‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5 spoilers: Ian Somerhalder, Julie Plec on start of filming
We knew earlier this week that Ian Somerhalder was back in Atlanta in order to begin some work on “The Vampire Diaries” season 5, and it’s now official: Filming is happening for the hit CW show! We know that the October 10 premiere is still a long ways away, but at least we are now at the point where a few more details will start to come in from the cast, including hints as to what they are up to while at work.
Ian confirmed the news about production being underway in a post on his Twitter account:
“1st day of shooting season 5 of The Vampire Diaries- break a leg today everyone! It’s HOT, no doubt welcome home to Mystic Falls people!”
Meanwhile, executive producer Julie Plec also talked about the big news by sharing a message of her own:
“The day has arrived: it’s TVDS5 day. First day of shooting — mad love to all my Atlanta folk. See you guys in a few days.”
One thing that is rather interesting about production this year is that while “The Vampire Diaries” is starting up now, “The Originals” is not under way yet. Granted, the Joseph Morgan show is only confirmed right now for 13 episodes rather than a full-season order (which could come a little bit later on down the road), and this show also does not premiere until Tuesday, October 15.
Just how excited are you to hear this news? If you want to also read some more of what Ian had to say throughout the week (and also a photo of the first script), just be sure to visit the link here.

I want to know about The ORIGINALS.
Sorry, but TVD sounds like it’s gonna suck. Season 4 was horrible.
