ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 6 spoilers: Read into the latest Beckett mystery
Do we now have our answer as to whether or not Beckett on “Castle” season 6 is going to take that job in Washington? If you start to make an assumption here based on the news we’re about to share with you, then prepare for a few cold stares that the likes of Captain Gates would not even be able to replicate. Remember: Taking assumptions as facts, as per the old saying, makes a certain something out of both you and me. It may be tempting here, but we preach caution here at the site.
According to SpoilerTV, the ABC drama is casting a woman named Rachel McCord, who is in her thirties and serves as a tough, no-nonsense detective. We know what this will immediately make you think: It’s Beckett’s replacement, and she really is going to give the whole Washington DC thing a try to see if the business works for her. It would, after all, be a nice shakeup for the character.
The only thing that gives us pause is that the precinct would replace Beckett with someone else that fills the same sort of demographic. Why would you make it seem like there is someone so similar to Beckett waiting in the wings? It’s hard to speculate with so little information, so we’ll just leave this to you to form whatever sort of opinion you want out of it. What we know is that she will be around at least during the early episodes, and as a detective, she’s sure to spend time with Nathan Fillion.
For the record, it also sounds like there could be a new love interest for Alexis being courted in a young man in his early twenties that she meets while on vacation (possibly the same one she left for in the finale).
As for the issue of Beckett’s proposal, take a look at some of what Stana Katic has to say about it.

It could be that Beckett won’t have to decide to take the job right away. There might be hold on the job. Those things do happen and would add to the suspense of “will she or won’t she” take the job. This new detective might be there to take over or join the team. Let’s not forget – this show is a procedural about Castle AND Beckett solving crimes. The rest is all to tease us!

I think it s not fair for beckett to sacrafice her career, but at the end she will realize that her life is empty without castle..
Based on the character explained, I think Jennifer Gagner will be fit for Rachel McCord. Let’s see…

I don’t know, I think it could go either way. Based on the finale and the way Beckett looked, I didn’t get the feeling that she was leaving. So unless I read her wrong or something changed during the time jump that I expect will happen, I don’t think the new detective is Beckett’s replacement.
Instead I think she might be some (un)friendly competition, professionally and maybe even personally, which is where Castle would come in. Though I think Castle has reached a point where he might do the whole Jordan Shaw thing, he might even get excited about a new detective and her possible hotness, but he won’t do anything about it because he loves Beckett. Unless Beckett does leave…but even then, I don’t think he’d move on from her fast at this point. I don’t even think he’d turn his back on her again if she went on another suicide mission like she did in “Always”, that’s how much I think he’s come to love her. And I still don’t think she will leave, but anything is possible. But then there’s the fact that I think Beckett is pregnant so if I’m right and she ends up having the baby, the new detective could be a temporary replacement?
It could go a lot of different ways, but I think I’ll like whatever the writers come up with because they’ll find a way to make it work.

No assumptions or speculations. Just bring it on. The show and the characters have to evolve. Change can be good.
