‘Glee’ season 5 spoilers: Does Kevin McHale want Artie to find love?

Even though “Glee” is a comedy, there are often enough dating subplots happening to turn it into a full-fledged romance. Just take a look at everything we had last season: In addition to the expected pairings that we’ve had on the show over the years, we had Brittany going back to relationships with men in Sam, Tina having feelings for a guy in Blane who isn’t interested in her, and Blaine having similar sort of feelings for Sam himself.

So is it time for Artie to once again join the mix? We certainly hope so. After the character was more or less marginalized this past season in the romance department, Kevin McHale expressed some hope in a chat with Digital Spy that something interesting could be coming his way:

“I feel like a lot of the relationships he’s been in had the potential to go there, but then he says stupid stuff and messes it up … I think eventually he will find someone to be with for a long time.”

Are there really any candidates for Artie right now to be with? That’s an interesting question, given that Vanessa Lengies is going to be more or less leaving the show for “Mixology,” and while Tina could end up being back with him, there hasn’t really been any movement as of late to get them there. As for Brittany, we know that most people want Santana to be her endgame, and Heather Morris is going to be absent for most of the upcoming season thanks to her pregnancy.
