‘The Leftovers’: Former ‘Doctor Who’ star joins pilot from ‘Lost’s’ Damon Lindelof
We’ve made it no secret that we are massive Damon Lindelof fans here at the site. We love “Lost,” (including the polarizing ending to the series) and some of his feature film work, so we’re hoping that we will end up feeling the same exact way about “The Leftovers,” the showrunner’s upcoming pilot over on HBO that is centered all around the Rapture.
You may have heard already that Justin Theroux has been cast as the lead in the project, and now the rest of the lineup is starting to slowly and surely fill in. According to a new report from Deadline, former “Doctor Who” star Christopher Eccleston (otherwise known as one of the former Doctors) will play Matt Jamison, a former editor who now runs a tabloid of his own publication. It’s a pretty interesting part, especially when you consider that this guy really should have went in the Rapture … if he really practiced what he preached.
Some of the other actors joining the show include Carrie Coon, Ann Down, and “The Closer” alum Amanda Warren. There are probably going to be a number of other additions that are announced as time goes by, so stay tuned for that. We anticipate that we still have quite a wait until this show comes on TV … if it gets on TV. The pilot will be filmed this year, and it will be 2014 at least until we see “The Leftovers” if HBO decides to pick it up to series.
