‘Project Runway All-Stars’: ‘Mistresses’ star Alyssa Milano takes over as host

project runway all-starsHow many seasons of “Project Runway All-Stars” can Lifetime really make? We don’t have much of an answer to that at the moment, given that the show can only presumably do so many of them when you consider that the pool of current “Project Runway” alumni only grows so fast, and not all of these people fit the bill.

Nonetheless, production on the third season of the spin-off series will start up in June, and we now know who will be steering the ship as host. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the lucky person will be none other than Alyssa Milano, who you can currently catch on the new ABC drama series “Mistresses.” She will be joined on the show by returning judges Isaac Mizrahi and Georgina Chapman, as the two hope to figure out who from the show’s illustrious history really has the best chance of shining even brighter in the fashion universe.

Milano’s booking follows a new trend of reality competition hosts being extremely multi-talented people. You have Kal Penn (“Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle”) go to Discovery’s “The Big Brain Theory,” Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy hosting “Best Ink,” and Dave Navarro rocking out over on “Ink Master.” Milano is certainly someone who is fashion-conscious, and has her own clothing and jewelry line to boot. Therefore, you cannot really argue against the choice.

There is of course also more of the original “Project Runway” coming up, though host Heidi Klum’s schedule at the moment is somewhat packed, thanks in part to her new gig serving as a judge on the NBC hit “America’s Got Talent.”
