‘The Walking Dead’ season 4 spoilers: Greg Nicotero to direct premiere (video)
Just how badly do the folks over at “The Walking Dead” want to ensure that season 4 is a massive success? Let’s just say that they are bringing out some of the big guns early on. AMC has just unveiled a super-cool first look video for the show, and while we’re not going to spoil all it for you, let’s just say that there are two production details that you should know.
First of all, new showrunner Scott M. Gimple is going to try to prove himself right away here, as he has written the entire premiere episode, which should come on the air at some point in October. Gimple has the challenge of trying to follow up Glen Mazzara, someone that we have a tremendous amount of respect for after he made an already pretty-good show into something fantastic.
Meanwhile, the director for this episode is going to be someone who has taken more and more of an active role in the show since the very beginning: Special-effects guru Greg Nicotero. Nicotero is also an executive producer for the season alongside the likes of Gale Ann Hurd, Gimple, and source material writer Robert Kirkman, who we are sure is an active force as always when it comes to the direction of the show.
With Nicotero at the helm, we wonder: How much work is he going to put into the effects on his episode? We’re betting that the answer here is “a lot,” which means that there is going to be quite a bit to like over the course of the hour for zombie fanatics across the country.
