‘Arrow’ episode 21 review: Is Walter [spoiler]?
Wow. What an episode of “Arrow” that this was. Not only did we have a great story in the present that led to a major revelation when it came to Walter (he is very much among the living), but we also had a very different story about the past than just another story about Oliver in the island.
While we have enjoyed at times the flashbacks (but only sometimes), this background into the “boat trip” that led to the events at the island was absolutely thrilling. We saw just what sort of role Moira Queen and Malcolm played in setting up this trip, and it also gave us a prime opportunity to see a little bit of what Oliver’s relationship with Laurel was like at the time that he was cheating on her with her sister Sarah. What was the trigger that caused their relationship to crumble? Based on what we saw here, it was simply that Laurel was ready to commit before he was.
In the present, Oliver tried to actually admit to still having feelings for Laurel while she was looking for advice on Tommy, which was at least a little bit frustrating since we just had a night full of great Felicity moments (including her going glam in an effort to distract a certain “casino”). And yes, it’s probably obvious at this point that we are total Oliver and Felicity shippers.
The final shocker of the night was a big one, and it’s one that we’ve been waiting for all season long: Oliver finally realizing that his mother is in cahoots with Malcolm, and the two are planning some very bad things. He does not have all the pieces together yet, but he is coming close.
