‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 4, episode 20 review: A Phoebe Tonkin – Joseph Morgan stunner
We knew that “The Originals” was going to be an interesting spin-off series, but we have to say that this was something that we didn’t see coming in a million years. Not only does Joseph Morgan’s Klaus have a potential new home and a dream in New Orleans, he also has a new person entering his life: a baby.
How is this even possible? Well, it may all be thanks to Klaus being at least part werewolf, and Hayley being a full-fledged wolf herself. This is clearly something that has not been explored in this universe before, but is it the right move? That is what we’re still unsure about. It definitely gives him a reason to try and be a better person, but we’re just not sold yet on Phoebe Tonkin’s character … even if we love Tonkin and “The Secret Circle” very much. Perhaps we just need to see more of her.
The most interesting new arrival of the episode was Marcel, the new vampire king of New Orleans. The Elijah / Klaus dynamic is still fantastic, and we’re looking at what happens when Rebekah gets some more screen time here. Notice that we say “when”, that’s because there’s no doubt in our mind that this show will be picked up for more in the future, if for no other reason than that the ratings will be stronger than most of the other programming thanks to the “Vampire Diaries” connection.
What did you think about the “Originals” backdoor pilot, and are you shocked that Hayley is pregnant? Be sure to share some of your thoughts below! Meanwhile, you can read even more scoop when it comes to the upcoming “Vampire Diaries” finale by heading over to the link here.
