‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 8 finale spoilers: What familiar face is returning?

There are many things that “How I Met Your Mother” has discovered a knack for over the years, and one of them definitely is the ability to continually bring people back who we have seen play a role in the show’s past. After all, we already have seen Rachel Bilson and Jayma Mays come back as ex-girlfriends of Ted, and even Becki Newton is going to make a return appearance soon as Quinn, the last fiancee of Barney Stinson before he managed to get on one knee for Robin.

This time around, the returning player to the show is going to be someone in regards to Jason Segel’s Marshall. According to TVLine, we are going to see the return of one of his brothers upon a visit to his home state of Minnesota with baby Marvin, as the child gets the opportunity to see where his father came from. While the report does not confirm which brother it is, we have a feeling that we’re talking about Marcus (Ned Rolsma), given that the brother Marshall runs into is going to be the one interested in giving him a hard time. (Marcus is a noted prankster.)

Marshall’s family life has probably been explored more in some ways than some of the other characters, and much of it is brought on thanks to the death of his father. The irony here is that Ted’s parents have actually been brought up less than any others as of late, though that may be compensation for the fact that we knew so little about Barney or Robin’s dads earlier on in the show’s run.
