‘Bones’ season 8, episode 21 review: Courtrooms and Christine problems
For fans of “Bones,” Monday night’s episode is probably what you would expect for something airing close to the end of the season: there was a standalone story that proved to be rather entertaining, but we also saw something at the same time that allowed our main characters to also figure something out about themselves.
In the case of Brennan, she was quick to learn that her daughter Christine is not going to be perfect, and it is not always in her best interest to try and defend her for anything and everything under the sun. When she was accused of biting another child of school, she quickly tried to claim that her child couldn’t possibly do something so terrible. Is it natural for her to want to jump to this conclusion? Definitely, but unfortunately in this case it just wasn’t true. Her child was guilty, and she had to come to terms with the fact that sometimes, this is just how children grow up.
As for the primary mystery of the night, it was simply good fun more so than it was anything else. Who doesn’t love a good court TV spoof? With a name like “Judge Trudy,” the show really didn’t even try to hide what they were spoofing. We said previously that we always enjoy these mystery show episodes that take jabs at pop culture, and on this occasion the killer was actually someone who worked on the show (in the bailiff).
