‘Dexter’ season 8 spoilers: Look who’s changed!

Are we going to see some sort of a time jump between “Dexter” season 7 and the one premiering this summer? We’re not quite sure what the answer to that is just yet, but the photo below confirms that we are going to see a new actor joining the show in a familiar role. (Warning: spoilers ahead!)

The image that you’re about to see comes courtesy of series regular Aimee Garcia (Jaime Batista), who is spending a great deal of time as Dexter Morgan’s nanny with his son Harrison. Of course, the twist here is that there is a new actor in the role this time around, and one that certainly seems to be much more expressive than the previous Harrison.

Now, the reason for the new Harrison seems to be unclear. Could it be that they wanted a livelier actor moving forward? It’s hard to really tell if this version of the character is that much older, especially when you consider that there is probably at least some sort of small jump from one season to the next. The truth is just that recasting child actors is common since so many of them aren’t sold on this as a career at such an early age, which is why casting them for shows is a pretty risky endeavor to begin with.

What we’re more curious about when it comes to Harrison (regardless of who plays him) is simple: how in the world is Dexter going to handle having a child who is much more able to communicate with him as he continues to keep up his other habit? Eventually, something has to give … and we imagine we will be finding out more there soon.
