‘Game of Thrones’ season 3 spoilers: New details on Arya’s journey

And now, for something completely different when it comes to Arya Stark. After spending the past year largely held captive by Tywin Lannister and others, one of the most adventurous members of the famous family is about to get involved in quite the adventure on “Game of Thrones” season 3. Expect to see way more Gendry, quite a bit of traveling, and also some new experiences for the character that she imagined beforehand.

In addition to all of this, expect to see Arya advance rather quickly past her years to even become a sort of leader. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly in an interview posted this week, actress Maisie Williams explains just how much the character has grown already, and the growing up that she still has to do moving forward:

“She’s starting to stand up for herself and take control of her life … And she’s starting to realize that most people don’t stick to their word. People don’t always do what they say they’re going to do. But if everybody else is going to do that, I can too.”

One other thing that Williams teases for her character? Magic. While we don’t know if she is going to start casting spells or doing some other freaky stuff, the character will at least encounter it in the season in a way in which has not before. As a matter of fact, this is really a foreign concept at the moment to most members of the Stark family, though the Baratheon family certainly knows a thing or two about it. (Just ask Stannis, or the ghost of Renly.)
