‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 8 spoilers: Finale title speculation
When you consider that “How I Met Your Mother” loves to play little games with their titles, we have a feeling that you are sure to love what the producers have in store for the end of the season. Do you remember that the last two episodes of season 2 were “Something Borrowed” and “Something New”? Well, you’re about to see something very similar here.
According to a new report from SpoilerTV, the penultimate episode of this season is going to be entitled “Something Old.” Do you sense a pattern here? While we can’t officially confirm it yet, we have a feeling that the finale will be entitled “Something New” … which seems very poetic given that Barney and Robin’s wedding is where Ted is supposed to be meeting the mother.
While this is all well and good, it still does not answer the question that everyone is curious about right now: are we finally going to meet this woman? We don’t know how the show can really get away with not showing her at this point, since then Ted would have to be deliberately doing work with his children to avoid talking about the mother during some of his storytelling stories. While we’re happy that the show has been renewed for a ninth and final season, we really hope that there is a brilliant idea mixed in here somewhere in order to justify another 24-episode story being told. Right now, it really does feel like the wedding is the best possible ending.
What do you ultimately think about this episode title? Be sure to share some more of your thoughts with a comment below, and you can read some more casting details about an upcoming (possibly Lily-centric) episode over at the link here.

As much as I love HIMYM, and I really do, for the first time in the show’s run I’m couldn’t care less about any of the upcoming episodes until the wedding. We all know that nothing new will develop, Ted’s next plot line comes when he meets the mom which doesn’t take place for another 2 months (and I pray they don’t wait until next year to reveal her. I will not watch anymore. I’m making a stand, dammit). So why bother watching any of these pointless episodes? I love that the show has a 9th season but I’m afraid my lasting impression is going to be “Theyshould have ended that two years ago.”
