‘Pretty Little Liars’ season 3, episode 23 preview: Is Spencer on the mend?

If you thought that Troian Bellisario killed it on this past episode of “Pretty Little Liars,” know this: it’s only going to get better from here. Unfortunately, we can’t exactly say the same thing about the state of her character Spencer Hastings. As difficult as it has been for her inside of Radley Sanitarium thus far, it’s not going to get any easier now that everyone knows just where she is.

It begins with Spencer’s mother, who is acting out of some sort of genuine concern for her, but is also not doing a very good job of conveying that to her daughter. At first glance, it appears as though she is really just trying to get her out of the establishment to save face; but then, she makes a chilling observation that the last time someone clung to a secret so tightly as Spencer has, it was Alison DiLaurentis … and we all know how that ended.

As for the Liars, they are going to try to help Spencer just from the standpoint of logic. First and foremost, they tell Spencer that she was right on one level, and that the police did find a body out in the woods. However, it was not Toby’s, despite her insistence that she knows what she saw despite never seeing his face. From there, Emily, Hanna, and Aria are inspired enough to actually visit a local morgue and try to get some sort of proof with their own eyes that this member of the “A-Team” is still alive, and that this entire ordeal may have just been a massive set-up in order to make Spencer go insane.
