‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 4 spoilers: Ian Somerhalder’s ‘Originals’ suprise
We know that “The Vampire Diaries” is getting set to film their upcoming backdoor pilot for “The Originals,” but what you may be a little bit surprised to know at the moment is that almost every character involved with the flagship show is going to be going down to New Orleans to lend a helping hand … with one very major exception.
Speaking in a new interview on MTV’s “10 on Top,” Ian Somerhalder said that he is not going to be making the trip to the Big Easy (at least for the sake of filming), which is incredibly ironic when you consider the fact that the actor actually grew up in the greater New Orleans area and refers to the city as his hometown. (Well, let’s just hope that he gave everyone some travel tips.)
The interview also contains some other fun commentary about the upcoming spin-off, how it will impact life on “The Vampire Diaries” proper (which includes less of a focus on mythology), and also some other random topics including One Direction and hipster mustaches. What is interesting is that the majority of the actors almost speak as though they are completely confident that the show will be picked up by the network, even though The CW still has a formal decision to make. With that being said, it will be stunning if “The Originals” is not on the air in the fall, given the need for some more higher-rated series that can keep most of the “Vampire Diaries” lead-in.
What do you want to see unfold during this backdoor pilot? Be sure to share some more of your thoughts below, and you can also check out some more scoop about how some of these characters will end up in New Orleans by heading on over to the link here.
