‘Girls’ season 2, episode 8 preview: Hannah gets help
After drawing near-universal acclaim for most of its season 1 episodes, the reaction to “Girls” season 2 has been thus far much more divided. The episodes have been much more polarizing, and even us some of us who adore some of the unique experiments put on by Lena Dunham (such as her one-off with Patrick Wilson) don’t care for some of the others (the awkward Hannah / Jessa trip from last weekend).
Luckily, Sunday night’s new episode seems to at least be in part a return to form for some of the characters, as we will be seeing more than just one of the show’s stars involved in some major story. Marnie is going to once again find herself at a career crossroads, and she will receive some hilarious advice from Ray of all people, since he is clearly the best person to ask for some sort of help when it comes to planning her future.
Meanwhile, we will be seeing the return of Adam again in an unusual manner, and Hannah is finally going to get some help for her complicated personal and professional life be seeing a therapist. Are they really going to be able to sort her out? Since her parents are back, we wonder if they are the ones paying for this therapy considering that we cannot possibly imagine her being able to afford it on her own.
One person we are almost sure we won’t see again this week is Jessa: based on the note that she left, we would be stunned if she appears at all in any of the show’s final three episodes. We feel almost sad for this character, given that she was also marginalized early on in the season before her blow-up with Thomas-John.
