‘The X Factor’ USA notes: Carly Rose Sonenclar, Demi Lovato, Fifth Harmony

The X Factor LogoIt’s getting closer to decision time when it comes to “The X Factor” season 3; and with that in mind, it is starting to look more and more like it will Demi Lovato’s decision when it comes to whether or not she wants to return to the show, and not that of the producers or the network (which has been the case for some firings, including Steve Jones and Paula Abdul).

Speaking in a new interview with MTV News, Demi explained that what may potentially hold her back from returning is merely a desire to tour with her upcoming album, since being a part of the show in the fall would make it rather difficult for this to happen:

“It’s hard ’cause at the end of the day, I’m a musician. So, I could take the opportunity to tour, and, you know, I have to be a business woman and I have to like balance it out on both aspects. But, at the same time I had some much fun. And I would love to go back.

“It’s just a matter of making things work. And, you never know, I may do both; I may just pick one or the other.”

This is not an easy decision to make from a business perspective: while Demi could feasibly earn more money outright from a tour than being on the show (which paid her a fraction of Britney Spears’ salary for season 2), being a part of “The X Factor” is instantly publicity for her music week after week. Blake Shelton and Adam Levine are two great examples of artists who have found a way to make careers work while also taking part in the show, and that includes doing two installments a year.

Our guess? That Demi will come back, and will tour over the summer and in early 2014 to accommodate the move.

WetsealSome fun in Los Angeles – While they have not necessarily been on any sort of collision course, both Fifth Harmony and Carly Rose Sonenclar have been in California this week working with some producers on songs that could appear on future albums. (You can read some more about Carly’s plans here.) In the process, the two have had an opportunity to take in some fun in the city.

When it comes to Carly Rose, she tweeted out the image to the left of a series of outfits she tried on at Wetseal, and she also spent much of today over at Radio Disney for an interview. (We were sadly having some trouble streaming it this afternoon, but we’re going to have audio as soon as we find it online.)

Update: Carly’s interview is actually airing tomorrow, so we’ll have it for you then.

Meanwhile, this is the fourth day for Fifth Harmony in the studio, while they are already excited to show off for their fans a little later in the year. We’re curious to see just what sort of pop music the group is going to crank out, and whether it will sound like some of their most-popular songs on the show in “Anything Could Happen” and “Impossible.”
