‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: Justin Bieber goes for laughs with Jason Sudeikis
We have the second preview now for this weekend’s “Saturday Night Live” with Justin Bieber as host, and couldn’t the writers have been a little bit more creative with this? While we are sure that there will be a substantial viewership courtesy of all the young ladies who will be staying up late to watch their idol, we also are admittedly worried at the moment about whether or not there is enough material being presented to the 18-year old singer to really be a classic host / musical guest alongside the likes of Justin Bieber.
In the first promo for this show, we saw Kenan Thompson make a series of jokes about Bieber’s late name with various puns that go along with it. Now, around half of the promo with Jason Sudeikis is basically stuffed with Bieber Fever jokes. Could this show really get any more obvious? There are a number of things in which Justin and the writers could be doing here if they want to be edgy, and maybe they are saving it for the actual broadcast:
1. Joke about all the ridiculously-expensive cars Justin owns.
2. Poke fun at his on-again, off-again relationship with Selena Gomez.
3. Blast TMZ for their obsession with his life, even if there is evidence that the majority of their stories about him are true.
4. Sing a little bit!
In general, Justin should just not concern himself with coming across as a goofball or embarrassing, which is something that he has seemingly shied away from at times in the fast in favor of looking “cool.” He does have a history of very good “SNL” appearances behind him, though (including a great sketch with Tina Fey), so let’s just hope that we will see more of this and these promos are just getting the bad material out of the way.
What do you want to see Justin do on the actual show this weekend? If you want to hear what Bieber said about the actual gig recently to Jimmy Fallon, you can do so over at the link here.
