‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 4 spoilers: Joseph Morgan’s latest ‘Originals’ co-star
Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies, and the rest of the cast for the “Vampire Diaries” backdoor pilot “The Originals” now has another reason to smile: we’ve just found out who is going to be playing one of the new vampire additions to the cast.
Sources have confirmed that Charles Michael Davis (most notable from “The Game”) has been cast in the potential series regular role of Marcel on the show, which will be airing in the place of a regular “Vampire Diaries” episode on April 25. (It’s unclear whether or not Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev, or the rest of the show’s main characters will appear.) Marcel is a former protegee of Klaus’ dating from when the two helped to run the city of New Orleans many years ago, and upon return to the Bayou city, Klaus quickly learns that he is now more or less running the place from the standpoint of the supernatural community.
With this addition, much of the “Originals” cast is shaping up. Gillies, Morgan, Phoebe Tonkin, and possibly Claire Holt are coming over from “The Vampire Diaries,” while Danielle Pineda has already been cast as one of the primary witches to appear on the show. At the moment, the most noteworthy character left to cast is Camille, the young college student who is in some ways the equivalent of what Elena was on “The Vampire Diaries” at the very start of the series.
If “The Originals” ends up drawing favorable reviews, odds are that The CW will add it to their fall lineup following the flagship show on Thursday night. The one loser in all of this if the show gets picked up? “Beauty and the Beast,” which has been supported mightily by having “The Vampire Diaries” as a lead-in.

I think having the Vampire Diaries as a lead-in has been a big plus for the Beauty and the Beast but here’s hoping the show has built up a sufficient fan base who will continue to watch it regardless of what day it airs.
The show’s viewing figures fell for a few weeks but are now rising again which is a good sign. I think the show has a loyal and passionate fan-base, and with word of mouth the show will gain in popularity. Recently it has been teased that Vincent will be leaving the warehouse and going subterranean, aligning more with the original series. The show definitely warrants a second season.
