‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 9, episode 13 preview: The meaning behind ‘Bad Blood’
In watching the first sneak peek for Thursday night’s new “Grey’s Anatomy” season 9 episode, one thought immediately comes to mind: Cristina is a very good doctor. How so? She understands just that the needs of the patient (or the client) comes first, even if this comes at the expense of their own well-being.
With that in mind, we turn to the crisis that she finds herself in this week: a patient at Seattle Grace is in serious danger of losing his life, and there is one thing that could save him almost for sure: a blood transfusion. Unfortunately, this young man is a practicing Jehovah’s witness, and the religion dictates that this is something you cannot do. The boy’s parents object to the idea of giving him new blood, saying that while it may help him survive now, it would in turn condemn him for eternity.
While you may or may not agree with the given patients’ religious practices, doctors are not meant to serve as the judge, jury, and executioner as to whether or not these mandates are to be followed. Therefore, we see a certain blonde intern choosing to ignore these orders and given the patient a bag of blood being extremely problematic. If she is not fired after doing this, then Seattle Grace has a serious problem on their hands. Even if you save this patient’s life, are they really going to be grateful once they realize what you’ve done? Someone is sure to miss a bag of blood somewhere, and this is the sort of secret that will not stay that way for long.
What do you think about this dilemma, and would you act like Cristina if you were in her shoes? Be sure to share some of your thoughts below, and you can also find out some more news on both Jackson and April by heading on over to the link here.
