‘Private Practice’ series finale spoilers: Kate Walsh happy for hopeful ending

Private PracticeLeading up to the series finale for “Private Practice,” we had heard Kate Walsh explain a number of times that she was actually hoping for some sort of catastrophic ending for her character of Addison. As it turns out, though (and as you probably guessed), she was really just joking.

As a part of a rather extensive new interview with TV Guide focusing on the show’s entire six-season run on ABC, the actress explained that it really seems appropriate that her character would find some sort of happiness in her life with Jake, especially when you consider all of the heartbreak and loss that has filled up her life over the course of the past several years:

“I always like a good tragedy, but I also feel like the fans have been with us so long and Addison’s been through so much torture and angst and suffering that I think it’s really beautiful to send her off this way.”

Walsh also said that she would be open to making an appearance on a special episode of “Grey’s Anatomy” at some point, but admitted that she really does not see herself taking part in any sort of hour-long network series anytime soon, citing that she “needs a break” after spending so much of her life wrapped up in between this show and the other Shonda Rhimes series.

Even though “Private Practice” is in fact coming to an end, we do anticipate there being at least one more episode of “Grey’s Anatomy” that features one of the doctors in the future … just not Addison anytime soon. As a matter of fact, Shonda Rhimes laughed off the idea that she would come up to Seattle to help Meredith give birth.
