‘Glee’ season 4 song spoilers: Heather Morris, Melissa Benoist team up
If you want to see some surprising collaborations on “Glee,” just stay tuned until the “Sadie Hawkins” episode airs on Thursday night. After all, this is going to be an hour where we will see Melissa Benoist’s Marley give a pair of performances with people who she has not done duets with over the course of the season thus far.
1. “Tell Him” with Heather Morris – This one is a personal favorite just when it comes to how much fun this Vonda Shepard cover really is. For one, this performance really shows that Benoist’s voice can work with almost anyone on the cast, and Morris as Brittany has greatly improved her singing voice since the start of the show a few years ago.
Of course, we do wonder what the meaning behind this song is: are we about to see both Marley and Brittany make some confessions to Jake, Ryder, or Sam about some feelings that they have?
2. “Locked Out of Heaven” with Alex Newell – This is another strong cover, but it is admittedly a little hard to say that it’s a surprise to see “Glee” taking on a track that is #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. This is the sort of song that will sell plenty of downloads, though it is hard to really see how it is going to have really any bearing at all within the actual story save for being a fun track for people to dance to.
Yes, the subject matter is a little questionable for high schools, but this is hardly the first time that “Glee” has taken on such a song (Plus, this is still tame compared to what teenagers sing about in real life.)
Which Marley collaboration do you appreciate more at the moment, or do you wish that there was more in this episode from Rachel, Kurt, and some of the other graduated students? Be sure to share your thoughts below, and you can read some more “Glee” scoop on Kurt and Blaine over at the link here.
