‘Saturday Night Live’: Jennifer Lawrence, Jason Sudeikis shine in new promo
Jennifer Lawrence has really had quite the week for herself. On Sunday night, she won a Golden Globe for her role in “Silver Linings Playbook.” So what is she doing next? Rather than going to Disney World, she is instead going to “Saturday Night Live” alongside The Lumineers!
NBC has just released the first promo for Lawrence’s show, and there is of course one obligatory “Hunger Games” reference thrown in there (though we won’t spoil it for those of you looking for a laugh). Lawrence is joined by the newly-engaged Jason Sudeikis, who is sporting a winter break beard and also talks about how he has sadly never won a Golden Globe.
Overall, you can tell that sketch comedy is still a pretty new genre to Lawrence, as she is keen to mostly just play the calm, cool, and collective person in this promo (ironically Sudeikis’ role more often than not), and allow the “SNL” veteran to handle most of the silliness. It it a reasonably funny promo, but we have learned over the years that it is always an absolutely terrible idea to really judge the show as a whole based on what you see in a preview video. It’s all going to depend on the writing, and how game the host is to make fun of herself as well as her image. Lawrence seems to be pretty cool and at easy with being an overnight sensation, so we are excited to see what she brings to the table.
