‘Downton Abbey’ season 4: Who has a new connection to America?

Downton AbbeyLet’s start this article out straight out the gate with a warning: if you want to remain unspoiled about the continuation of “Downton Abbey” season 3, you should really stop reading now. Otherwise, press on with the knowledge that there will be some frank discussion of events ahead.

We already know that “Downton Abbey” already has one direct connection to America straight out of the gate in Elizabeth McGovern’s Cora, and we also knew that the hit ITV series’ former star in Dan Stevens has spent much of the past several months on Broadway, where he is starring in a production of “The Heiress.” Now, we’re also hearing that another star of the show has booked herself some representation for future parts in the United States.

According to a report from Deadline, Amy Nuttall, who you may otherwise known for her portrayal of prostitute-turned-cook Ethel), has signed a deal for her first American representation in Brillstein Entertainment Partners. Many of the other actors on the show are already represented stateside, and this is a major move for her for a number of reasons. Not only does this now further present her with opportunities to promote herself for “Downton Abbey” in the United States (which makes perfect sense considering that the show drew nearly eight million viewers on PBS Sunday night), much it could also lead to her getting some more roles in America down the road.

Don’t worry, though: if called upon, we are still sure that Nuttall will appear in “Downton Abbey” season 4. Even though Stevens did make the move to leave, the show remains a huge opportunity for other actors to show off some of their talents, and the filming schedule also allows them enough time to still pursue some other opportunities.

What do you think about this news: is it great for Nuttall, even if it already starts to make you worry a little bit about her future on the show? If you want to read some more “Downton Abbey” news pertaining to Michelle Dockery, you can do so over at the link here.
