‘American Idol’ notes: Jessica Sanchez, Phillip Phillips, Lee DeWyze
We’re going to be spending most of this edition of “American Idol” notes putting our focus largely on the winner and the runner-up from this past season, but we wanted to kick things off first with an announcement: Lee DeWyze’s StageIt show is tonight! If you haven’t purchased a ticket to attend just yet, you can do so here. Proceeds from the show are going to Demand Cures Today, an organization that helps in the battle against cancer. It’s definitely a worthy cause, and you have an opportunity to listen to some pretty great music to boot.
Now, let’s dive in to some other highlights, including who Jessica Sanchez is going to be bringing along with her for her much-hyped show in the Philippines earlier next year.
Jessica’s show – The only thing that could make Jessica’s show overseas even better? Having her fellow “American Idol” contestant in Colton Dixon as an opening act! The show is going to happen on February 14, and you can check out even more details on the first poster for the show to the left.
Booking Colton to help take part in the concert is an incredibly smart move for Jessica to make. Even though he left a little bit earlier than many people were expecting, he is one of the most-popular singers from this season; in addition to that, he also has been one of the most prolific in working on original music since the show ended. His album “A Messenger” is coming out early next year, which is the same thing that can be said for Jessica’s own debut.
And yes, we would be absolutely stunned of Sanchez does not perform more original music during this show than what we have heard from her already.
Phillip’s performance in Toronto – Speaking of original music, our reigning champ in Phillip Phillips was up in Toronto recently at MuchMusic’s “NewMusicLive,” and he took advantage of the opportunity perform both “Home” as well as “Gone Gone Gone,” which is his latest single off of “The World from the Side of the Moon.” Be sure to check it out below.

I grew up in 50’s 60’s and I’ve heard a lot of great singers;but when I heard and watched what Jessica Sanchez did on American Idol last season I knew that I was watching a future superstar. This girl has one of the top 10 voices I have ever heard. I’m so glad I got to see her perform. What a talent.
