ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 5 spoilers: A photo that screams ‘awkward’

Sadly, the January 7 return of “Castle” season 5 to TV still seems like an incredibly long time away. With that in mind, will seeing one of the first photos from the episode (entitled “Significant Others”) make you feel a little better? It may, but we also know one person that is not going to be feeling better about what she is witnessing: Stana Katic.

As you already know, this hour features the return of Darby Stachfield (now of “Scandal” fame) as Castle’s ex-wife Meredith, who, as the official synopsis below reveals, is going to cause a nasty pickle when she and Rick’s new girlfriend start to share the same space (and also his attention):

“When a powerful divorce attorney who only represented women is murdered, Castle and Beckett are confronted with a plethora of angry ex-husbands, any one of whom could be the murderer. Meanwhile, Castle’s ex-wife, Meredith, moves into the loft to take care of Alexis while she recovers from Mono, and to make matters worse, Beckett is also forced to move in while her apartment is being fumigated, causing tension, humor and more than a little awkwardness”

Just one reason for the awkwardness is something that we told you about already: Castle has developed a bit of a nasty habit over the years of getting a little too close to his exes when they come calling, and this could lead Meredith to having some false expectations when she arrives … ones that are sure to be broken by a certain tough-as-nails detective with a secret love for science fiction.
