‘The X Factor’ alums One Direction meet David Letterman, Niall Horan gets kissed
We have a feeling that when One Direction agreed to go on “The Late Show with David Letterman” for Friday night’s show, they had no idea that it was going to go down quite like this. After all, we have a feeling that this is probably akin to something that happens in their daily lives on a regular basis.
In the video below, you can see the boy band (and former “X Factor” sensation) come out on stage for what appears to be a standard interview on a giant couch, and they are surprisingly joined by an award-winning actor in Dustin Hoffman. However, Hoffman was not particularly interested in staying out for a chat; rather, he leaned in, placed a giant (albeit fake) kiss on band member Niall Horan, and then went back offstage in the blink of an eye.
So how did One Direction handle it? Basically, their reaction was about akin to anyone of that age who was surprisingly accosted by somebody on the street or in a television studio. The lads all seemed to have a pretty good laugh about it at Horan’s expense, and then they just went about the rest of the interview as though getting smooched by a Hollywood actor was no big deal.
One thing that we can say for sure here? This was surely one of the biggest clashes of generational stars that we have seen on late-night TV in some time. While Dave looks at Hoffman as a legend, he probably only vaguely has an idea as to who One Direction really is. Meanwhile, most teenager girls in America probably feel the opposite.
Do you think Niall and the boys handled this bit of spontaneity well? If you want to take a sneak peek to Saturday’s “X Factor” UK final performance show, you can do so here.
