In Barney about to start hitting the town with a certain sports reporter? It may be a little too early to report that, but we may have just found a new candidate for the new love interest for Neil Patrick Harris’ character … one who Robin also just so happens to hate.

According to a new report from TVLine, Chelan Simmons of “Final Destination 3” and “The L.A. Complex” has just signed on to appear in two episodes as a new employee at World Wide News,  which is the place of employment for Cobie Smulders’ character. We’re making a big assumption here that the person Robin hates is somebody from her work, but we haven’t really met any other people who could be possibilities yet. (Ironically, Barney has already dated one of her former co-workers in Nora, who was really one of his first real relationships away from the gang.)

Of course, we would be remiss to mention that there is another strong candidate to also possibly romance Barney away from Simmons’ character: Patrice, who Ted the narrator has already pretty much identified as Robin’s arch-enemy. It probably would make more of an impact in terms of the show’s history if she is his new love interest, but if this was the case, we have a hard time figuring out just why in the world Simmons would have been cast.
