‘American Idol’: Jessica Sanchez’s ‘X Factor’ pick, Phillip Phillips’ World Series gig

It’s a little bit of a quieter day right now when it comes to the world of “American Idol,” but aren’t there still some great stories here to share? Ultimately, the answer here is “definitely,” and we’re beginning with Jessica Sanchez praising one of her favorite acts on “The X Factor” thus far in the season.

So who does she favor? While our reining runner-up does not necessarily proclaim her to be her top choice to win the grand prize in a post on Twitter, Jessica does say that she is “feeling” the talents of rap group Lyric 145, which is definitely something that we agree with. This group just rocks, and has a natural sort of swagger about them that makes you want to watch the YouTube video below about two hundred times, mostly because it gets better and better with each repeat viewing. Not only do they have the talent, but unlike young rapper Astro last year, they are also a little easier to root for.

As for the winner of season 11 in Phillip Phillips, we have a new story that is coming in now via HITS Daily Double: he is going to be getting the National Anthem gig at the World Series. They claim that the performance will happen on October 24, so we will just have to wait and see if this actually comes to fruition or not (though it seems likely).

Having the reigning “American Idol” champ sing the Anthem during baseball’s biggest game is something that has in many ways become a tradition, as such past former champs as Kelly Clarkson and Scotty McCreery have done it. It also helps that the World Series airs on Fox, and you know that they are interested in promoting their own properties more than just about any other network out there.

What do you think about Jessica’s pick here, and about Phillip’s new gig?
