NCIS season 15 episode 3 spoilers: Meet Ducky’s friend!

Contrary to what you may think at first glance, “Ducky’s friend” is not the title of a Pretty In Pink sequel. Instead, it is going to be a key component in NCIS season 15 episode 3, which is airing on CBS next month. “Exit Strategy” is the name of the episode, and with Susan Blakely coming on board, you may get a chance to learn a little more about David McCallum’s character beyond what you have in recent memory.

“While on a stakeout with Metro P.D., Torres’ partner mysteriously vanishes, with the subsequent investigation leading NCIS to uncover new evidence from a decade-old murder. Also, Ducky’s friend, Cadence Darwin (Susan Blakely), presents him with a new opportunity during his guest lecture series, on NCIS, Tuesday, Oct. 10 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.”

Blakely is no stranger to popular crime franchises, having appeared on the past on such other shows as Diagnosis Murder and Murder, She Wrote. What we wonder about her appearance here is what Ducky’s social life is like in general beyond the job. After all, we don’t exactly foresee him being the sort of character who goes out and parties every night after a long day of work!

As for the remainder of this episode, it should prove fun to get a Nick Torres story that is intense and shows off some more of what he brings to the team in terms of intelligence and ability. While we’ve seen that many times over in season 14, this may be one of the best chances in season 15 to date. With the premiere and second episode each likely focusing more on the story of Gibbs and McGee after their capture overseas, this could be an installment that puts more of a focus on some of the other characters. Think of it almost as playing catch-up with some of what they are up to in their own lives. As time progresses on season 15, our hope is that we do get some more opportunities to get to know some of the other characters on the show and also some of what they bring to the table. Who knows? Given the recent history on this show, we wouldn’t put it past anyone to give us another Ducky flashback episode similar to the ones that we have managed to score in the past.
