Given that Poldark season 4 is going to be taking quite the time jump between the end of this past season and the start of the new one, we knew there’d be changes. One of the biggest ones is bringing in a new actor for the role of Geoffrey Charles. The son of Francis Poldark and Elizabeth will have grown up a good bit by the next time we see him on the show, and there is a new person in the role in Holby City alum Louis Davison. This character is still going to feel very much like the Geoffrey Charles of old (presumably), albeit more educated and a little bit bolder.
Hopefully, this Geoffrey Charles will not be afraid of fighting back against his wicked stepfather given everything that George did to make his life a living hell. He brought in Morwenna to keep him away from his mother, and then later decided the best thing to do would be to ship him off to school elsewhere so that his son Valentine (at least who he thought was his son) could receive the lion’s share of attention. That’s a shame, given that Geoffrey Charles feels as though he’s a nice kid who wants nothing more than to be loved and give love back.
Davison is replacing Harry Marcus in the part, as Marcus held it previously. The casting change is nothing more than the function of the show realizing that they need to age some characters up in order to maintain a steady passage of time.
Some other Poldark season 4 reminders
If you didn’t know already, CarterMatt is here to remind you that season 4 has already began filming this week in Cornwall (and beyond), and you can head over to the link here in order to read more on some of the other new additions to the cast! One of the most prominent ones is Whitworth’s mother, which is valuable in terms of learning what sort of unholy mess spawned the man who has since gone on to become one of the most notorious villains on the show. We just hope that at some point during the journey, Morwenna is able to find happiness again. She was one of the most pure souls in the entire series when she arrived last season, and since then she has been corrupted beyond all measure. The more torment we see at the hands of Whitworth, the more we wonder as to whether or not she will ever be the same.
Our vision remains that someday, she, Drake Carne, and Geoffrey Charles will reunite and have some of the fun get-togethers that they had during season 3. Those were probably the happiest times that any of these three had over the course of their lives.
