The Lucifer season 3 Comic-Con trailer has Tom Ellis, dancing, and more

Lucifer season 3 trailer

The Lucifer season 3 trailer arrived at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend, but we should note that this is not your standard preview. Given that the third season just started filming, the footage in here is more than likely from the four “bonus” episodes that were a part of the season 2 order and will technically air as a part of the third season. That’s ultimately fine with us, mostly because getting these episodes, in the end, is a little bit more important than when they come on the air. We’re just lucky to have them.

Also, everything within this preview is pretty darn delightful from start to finish for a wide assortment of different reasons.

1. Lots of dancing, especially when it comes to Chloe.

2. A surprising kiss, though there is a perfectly good chance that this is not one that is taking place within the present. (One of these episodes could very well be a flashback, a dream sequence, or anything else — there’s a world of crazy possibilities with this show.)

3. Lucifer deciding to show off his wings briefly on the streets of Los Angeles while in the midst of doing his impression of John Travolta from Saturday Night Fever.

4. Ella sporting a new look that looks slightly akin to her making a red-carpet debut.

5. Cage fighting! Las Vegas dancers!

This is really a trailer that has everything (to quote Stefon from Saturday Night Live), at least in terms of the show doing everything that it can in order to present a good time and get everyone out there excited about what is coming up. This may be a show that does an exemplary job consistently of making us laugh, and finding new ways to get us to cheer for some of its characters. Yet, through its silliness and the wide array of different cases that we see, there are a few chances here and there to see humanity shien through … and to see us get emotional in the process. This is a show, after all, that does know how to punch you in the feels here and there. Not bad given that the title character is a pretty wicked dude.

This is also the sort of trailer that makes us all the more confident that there will be a season 4, mostly because it’s hard to imagine many people watching this and not enjoying what they have a chance to see here. Isn’t the goal of television to get away from the world for a little bit? If that is indeed the case, this video does deliver on all of that. Don’t feel guilty for enjoying this sort of devilish entertainment — we’re thrilled to see it. Oh, and there is some more news that we’re going to be reporting on with this show over the days that are coming up.
