Outlander season 3 Comic-Con panel: Live updates; premiere screening

Outlander season 3 Comic-Con panel

Want to get some live Outlander season 3 Comic-Con panel updates? That’s what this article is going to be all about! As the event takes place in Ballroom 20 (one of the biggest rooms of the convention), we’re going to be adding more to this piece about what the entire cast of attendees has to say.

Before beginning, here are some reminders: The panel is starting at 5:00 p.m. Pacific time, and the cast members set to be there include Caitriona Balfe (Claire), Sam Heughan (Jamie), Richard Rankin (Roger), Sophie Skelton (Brianna), and Tobias Menzies (Frank/Jack). Meanwhile, you’ve also got executive producers Ronald D. Moore, Maril Davis, and author Diana Gabaldon there to offer up some further insight. (Alas, Matthew B. Roberts is not in attendance; he is back working on the upcoming fourth season. He’s missed in advance.) World of Dance host Jenna Dewan-Tatum is set to be the moderator for the panel today.

Obviously, refresh the page over the course of the hour with a little more insight, and know that at some point tomorrow there should be an official video of everything that transpires.

If you’re there, we hope you enjoy it! Share your experiences after the fact in the comments below.

5:03 – Dewan-Tatum welcomes everyone in! All things considered, this is pretty on-time for Comic-Con. As you imagine, things can get crazy.

5:05 – They showed the trailer! Yes, many of you have already seen this, but it’s a little bit different in a room full of other Outlander fans. (You can also check out our 1,200 word dissection of the trailer over at the link here.)

5:07 – The entire cast and producers are welcomed onto the stage! As you would imagine, pretty thunderous applause all around.

5:10 – Moore offers up a quick summary of season 3, and everything that is coming in terms of a sea voyage, a 20-year separation, and all sorts of other drama. Meanwhile, Davis hyped up the crew’s incredible ability to work with new people in South Africa.

5:11 – Tobias discusses the joy of being able to dive into these characters; given that he plays two very different characters, this has to be fun for him. Also, we get a preview of the showdown that is coming between Jamie and Black Jack at Culloden to start the season off! He thinks that the fight may surprise some people.

5:16 – A good photo of the panel via Starz.

5:18 – There was a fun discussion in here of the screen test involving Sophie Skelton and Richard Rankin.

5:20 – Sam comments as to how Jamie and Claire have “aged very well” over the season.

5:23 – In the understatement of the panel, Balfe describes the Print Shop scene as a “huge moment for Jamie and Claire.”

5:26 – A game of “truth or dance” breaks out, which leads to Sam and Jenna having a little bit of fun along the panel stage. Caitriona also danced when asked which character she’d rather kiss. Tobias … well, he just proclaimed himself the best tennis player.

5:30 – Graham McTavish, here for Preacher, has arrived! With that, he’s bringing some of his own whisky! That makes everything more fun, right? Oh, and Graham also dances.

5:34 – Sam promises that audiences will be pleased with what they see of Culloden on the show.

5:37 – Tobias speaks further on the duality of his roles, and reminds us further why he is the total actor’s actor. He treats the work seriously, and with great respect to go along with it. (Tobias should get ALL the Emmys.)

5:38 – The first episode is showing! This explains why the panel is running longer than the typical one at Comic-Con, no? This is the end of the panel itself — we’re not interested in spoiling the premiere episode at all, so this is where the article stops. Thanks for checking out the updates!

We’re updating a piece over at the link here with some videos / photos / quotes of some of the other interviews that the cast and producers do over the course of the day. As you imagine, there’s a lot to keep up with today. (Photo: Starz.)
