Wynonna Earp season 2 episode 8 spoilers: The origins of the curse

Everyone loves a good origin story, right? We hope so, given that this will be one of the primary focuses of Wynonna Earp season 2 episode 8 when that episode airs on Syfy next week. This marks a tremendous opportunity to learn more about the family curse, and to go along with that, also see how our title heroine continues to handle the craziness that is swirling around her. In some ways, life is easier for her now than it was at the start of the season — after all, Waverly isn’t inhabited by a goo creature anymore! Yet, there are still plenty of other issues, and Wynonna has to think about more than just herself now given that she’s expecting a child and that causes her to have some different priorities.

We love the title for the next new episode — “No Future in the Past” — because that almost suggests that it’s a mistake for Wynonna to spend much time delving into why the curse is there. There’s something to be said for letting the past be the past, and then putting the focus instead on the future and what could be happening there.

On the surface, this sounds thrilling — and it probably will be! For the characters, it’s probably hell since it’s going to require them to pool resources and work together in unexpected ways. We do love episodes that give the team unique and exciting challenges, so there’s definitely some merit in looking at this story with that in mind.

The reason that we are getting this episode right now stems very much from the big reveal at the episode’s end that Waverly was questioning her family history again. This is probably going to be a motivating factor for Wynonna in this episode, though in the end, it really doesn’t matter what Waverly’s bloodline is provided that she has the love of her family close to her.
