The Last Ship season 4: Eric Dane series will have two-hour premiere
For longtime fans of the show, this news shouldn’t come as much of a shock given that the two-hour premiere allows the Michael Bay-produced series to have more of a cinematic feel. This is something that it strives for, as the show wants to get you hooked on the action and the drama so that you stick with them for the remainder of the run. Given that the show will face some steep competition eventually against NFL football and fall series, it needs to get people hooked so they don’t turn the dial.
Per TVLine, joining Eric Dane this season will be Adam Baldwin, Travis Van Winkle, Marissa Neitling, Christina Elmore, Jocko Sims, Bren Foster, Bridget Regan, Charles Parnell and Kevin Michael Martin. There are obviously many familiar faces in here among the regular cast, and some others are almost certainly going to be turning up from star tto finish.
One other interesting thing to note here is that season 5 of the show could premiere in the summer of 2018; whether or not “summer” is defined as June or late August remains to be seen, but it’s possible that there could be a shorter wait between seasons. Even with a break in production as Dane looks to resolve some personal issues, The Last Ship season 5 will be in the can long before it ends up premiering. Filming for the season is expected to resume at some point after the Memorial Day holiday.
In terms of the story for season 5, this is one of those occasions where you don’t want to say too much in advance. Nonetheless, it seems fair to assume that Dane’s Chandler is not going to remain separate from the Navy for too long. He’s too important a leader, and is too valuable to stopping further threats impacting both the nation and the world.
