The Originals season 4 episode 9 spoilers: A sacrifice in ‘Queen Death’

The Originals season 4 episode 9 is entitled “Queen Death,” and anytime that you see a name like this, it’s worth a shudder or two. What in the world could merit it? It’s terrifying, and truly in the vein of what this show should be — dark, twisted, and all sorts of delicious. Episode titles work wonders for getting viewers hooked in without knowing anything about the story.

Luckily, we do still come bearing gifts in some of the first details about said story. For further insight, take a look below:

The Originals season 4 episode 9 synopsis – “When The Hollow sends a terrifying message to Vincent (Yusuf Gatewood), he must team with Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) and Freya (Riley Voelkel) to embark on a desperate mission to stop the Hollow once and for all – even if it requires a heartbreaking sacrifice. Refusing to allow anyone in his family to pay the high price of defeating their enemy, Klaus (Joseph Morgan) makes a surprising alliance and enacts a plan that threatens to change the Mikaelson family forever.”

Do the characters on this show have much in the way of hearts to be broken at this point? Surprisingly, the answer seems to yes. They may have gone through a great deal, but even Klaus developed the capacity to care over time. The presence of Hope brings out the better of him, even if it doesn’t exactly stop much of his evil ways, either.

It should be noted that the idea of stopping the Hollow “once and for all” is this episode is relatively laughable. This is only episode 9 of a 13-episode season. Unless there is some other sort of terrible Big Bad waiting in the weeks, the more likely scenario here with this show is that the Hollow finds a way to survive this plan and come back to inflict further chaos before the season comes to a close. It should be bloody, and there may be plenty of surprises around every corner. Given that The Originals does have that season 5 renewal now, there is further flexibility to dive in and enjoy the story as opposed to being concerned over the ratings.
