Chicago Med season 3 premiere date speculation: Early hopes
The first thing to note is that there will be a Chicago Med season 3. Yesterday, NBC issued a full renewal for the medical drama, ensuring no more drama and anticipation in that department. As of this writing, Chicago Justice marks the only One Chicago series waiting in the wings. Law & Order: SVU remains out there, as well, but it’s hardly floating on the bubble. Consider it more the show locked in to negotiations in the way that it sometimes is around this time of the year.
In returning to Chicago Med, it’s worth wondering if it will remain on Thursday nights. Its present timeslot has its merits, mostly notably the pool of possible viewers. The downside exists in the form of the lead-in. Through the entirety of this season, it aired after comedies, whether it be The Good Place in the fall or Superstore / Powerless in the winter / spring. Chicago Med is not a shown known for drawing many laughs; it is served best by airing after something similar within its genre. A move to a different night to compliment it better is preferred, but issuing a complaint over a bubble show getting renewed is wrong. For now, relish in the fact that more stories are coming.
As for a premiere date, late September tends to be the targeted time for most 22-episode dramas, provided that NBC keeps the order the same and doesn’t pull any fast ones. More specifics will become clear next week with the upfront presentation coming in New York City.In issuing the renewal, NBC shows that they remain proud of the series, and there is potential still in more great standalone stories and crossovers galore. For this season, the show excelled in finding its voice and establishing its characters. It’s one thing to learn about who characters are through their successes; this season, we examined them through their flaws. Maybe it is a fear of commitment, a quick temper, or sporting the reddest pair of rose-colored glasses; these doctors and nurses are real people, and that in many ways makes them more heroic than ever before.
