Melissa McCarthy – Saturday Night Live promo: Sean Spicer feels pretty
In this video, set to the classic “I Feel Pretty,” you effectively see host Melissa McCarthy doing whatever she can in an effort to become the famed White House Press Secretary. At the moment, we definitely think that there is plenty to parody when it comes to Spicer, starting with the claims that he was effectively hiding in the bushes last night rather than coming out to speak to the press about President Donald Trump’s decision to fire FBI Director Comey.
Ultimately, the funny thing here is that Spicer’s thunder was stolen somewhat today from Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who spent most of the morning speaking to reporters and making TV appearances talking about the administration’s point of view on Comey and the aftermath of it. Does anyone else think that it’d be rather hilarious if we ended up seeing some other movie star come on the show pretending to be her?
We understand why McCarthy is getting the bulk of the publicity these days for being Spicer, given that this is one of the most high-profile gigs on one of the most high-profile shows out there. The thing that is probably being forgotten here in the process is just that McCarthy has been funny every other thing that she’s been on the show as well. This hosting gig gets her into the five-timers club, and while not every appearance is going to be chock full of amazing sketches, you know that she’s going to bring a lot of energy and bravery into every single one of them. In that sense, she is exactly what you want for a host of this show in terms of someone unafraid to tackle anything that is thrown at them.
Also, there’s extra magnitude around this show given that this is the penultimate one of the whole season. The finale is airing next week, and it’s hosted by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Earlier today, he got some headlines of his own for claiming that he’d consider running for President down the line.
