The Walking Dead season 8: Premiere date hopes for Andrew Lincoln, cast
Specifically, we’re talking about the season 8 premiere date … and as you would expect there isn’t one just yet. That being said we don’t think that the network is going to be looking at some major change to when they typically air the show since this works for them. AMC is currently holding onto #1 show on TV (in terms of the adults 18-49 demo), and so far, it’s been able to hold onto that title despite a decline this season in the numbers. The 16-episode format seems to work, as does the decision to air eight episodes in the fall followed by eight in the spring. At this point in the series run, there is probably a certain degree of awareness that we’re not going to see huge ratings surges anymore, but that’s understandable given how deep into the show we are. It was easier to pick up new viewers when all they had to do was burn through the first few seasons on Netflix. Now it’s a commitment.
With all of this success in mind, it makes sense for AMC to start airing season 8 once more in October. They never start too early in the month, so that rules out Sunday, October 1. Meanwhile, we’d also rule out October 29 since they often don’t start that late in the month, either. Traditionally, the pattern here is to start somewhere from the 10th of the month to the 20th — though they did start season 7 slightly later in the 23rd this past year.
With the season 7 premiere date in mind, our guess is that The Walking Dead season 8 premiere date will be on either October 15 or October 22. Maybe AMC pulls a curveball on us and starts it earlier on October 8, but that would be the earliest in the month that the show ever premiered. We think that they would want to get a couple of episodes under their belt before Halloween, given that this is when the appetite for this sort of show is the highest.
