‘NCIS’ season 14, episode 17 preview: Mary Stuart Masterson returns

There is some great news when it comes to the next new episode of “NCIS” — after all, you’re going to get a chance to see Mary Stuart Masterson back as Congresswoman Jenna Fleming after her first appearance earlier this season!

Unfortunately, this is the bad news that we have to report on at the moment — this episode is not going to be airing until March 7. There is no new episode airing next week, which shouldn’t come as all that much of a surprise given the sole fact that February 28 is going to be a pretty quiet night. It’s also past the end of February sweeps.

“What Lies Above” is the title for this episode, and the synopsis below makes it clear that Vance in particular is going to be impacted by having the Congresswoman back around the team.

Synopsis – “McGee discovers his apartment has been torn apart by a robber trying to locate an item of great value hidden somewhere by the convicted criminal who previously owned the unit. Also, Congresswoman Flemming (Mary Stuart Masterson) tries to persuade Director Vance to pursue a career in politics.”

It’s nice to see Masterson on the show, but the question that we have to wonder at the moment is if a political career could in some way lead to Vance deciding to leave the NCIS team. We hope that this doesn’t happen, mostly because there’s already been SO much turnover on the team as it is. With that being said, though, we do think that there could be some situations that unfold where we could see it happening, and this is a time in American history where more and more people are starting to sense the importance of politics more so than ever before. If Vance ends up feeling some sort of calling, could he really say no to that? We’ll have to find out.
