‘The Bachelor’: Nick Viall did meet Rachel Lindsay’s father off-camera, says Chris Harrison

Rachel -For those wondering if Nick Viall REALLY did have an opportunity to meet all of Rachel Lindsay’s family on Monday night’s new episode of “The Bachelor,” we’re glad to have a definite answer: It happened. It’s just not something that you could see on television because of the sensitive nature of his job and the sort of appearances that he makes in public.

In a new blog over on Yahoo!, show host Chris Harrison confirmed the meeting happened while describing further everything that went down during the hometown date in Dallas:

“Next we were off to Dallas to meet Rachel’s family. I think this was a very exciting date for Nick, who got to experience some new things and got to address some really interesting topics with Rachel and her family. Rachel’s father is a federal judge and so could not appear on our television show, but you should know that Nick and Rachel’s father did get a chance to talk before he left that night. This date was a huge step forward for Rachel, who obviously was falling in love with Nick — but she’s also a realist, and wanted to gut check her feelings against the perspective that her family could provide. Obviously, sometime soon, things go in a different direction for Rachel, but for the time being, this relationship is strong and growing.”

There are two different reactions that you should have to this news. For one, this had to be SUPER intimidating to Nick, given that meeting a judge is not something that you tend to see happening on a fairly regular basis.

Beyond that, though, this does make you wonder also how “The Bachelorette” will tackle this when the show airs this summer. Typically, the father of the Bachelorette has a reasonable part to play on the show, but here, it’s a little bit different. He’s clearly a big part of her life (they’re in the same sort of profession, given that she is an attorney), but they just can’t show much of it.

Do you like that Rachel’s father has such a unique profession, even if it cannot be shown on TV? Share below, and head over here to get some further news, including our full review for tonight’s “The Bachelor” episode. (Photo: ABC.)
