‘The Bachelor’: ABC in Arkansas censors Raven Gates’ story about her ex, infidelity

Raven -Who doesn’t love a little bit of controversy when it comes to “The Bachelor“? We’ve certainly seen plenty of it over the years with events that were taking place on the show itself, but what we’ve got below for you is something that is a little bit different, even to the point where we cannot think of a single situation of it happening before.

Last night, Raven Gates had her first one-on-one date of the season with Nick Viall, and in the process of it she told a story about finding her ex-boyfriend in bed with another woman, and what she did afterwards. (Let’s just say that it sounds a lot like a Carrie Underwood song.) We gotta credit Raven for being so honest about what happened, especially since so many other women on this show would probably gloss over the part where she got angry and tried to fight back.

Here’s where things get odd: Apparently, the local ABC affiliate in Little Rock (remember, Raven is from Arkansas) chose to not air the part of the show where Raven talked about this. The obviously implication here is that for whatever reason, they were trying to protect one of their own. We’re not entirely sure as to why they’d want to do this, especially given the fact that it’s not like they had control over what many other stations out there did. The story still got out! You also cannot argue that it was for content reasons, given that we’ve seen things that are far more offensive and shocking on this and other network shows. It clearly felt like they just didn’t want this story to impact someone in the area … but we’re not sure who Raven’s ex even is. It’s not like she was dating a celebrity or a high-profile figure.

Anyway, this is an interesting controversy worth pointing out, mostly because seeing an affiliate go rogue like this is something that you don’t see every day. In many ways, it has the adverse effect on its original intention in that it gets people far more curious about this story than they probably would have been otherwise.
