‘Outlander’ season 3: Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan celebrate PCAs victory on Facebook Live; highlights

Outlander -

Yesterday, “Outlander” had a chance to celebrate a huge achievement, as it swept the entirety of the People’s Choice Awards categories in which it was nominated. Also, it became the first cable show in history to win Favorite TV Show.

We made it clear yesterday how dissatisfied we were that the show was not given a pre-recorded acceptance speech or even a mention during the broadcast; for the sake of this article, we want to focus instead on the Facebook Live broadcast that came today featuring stars Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan. This was a way for the fans to celebrate the big win, and talk a little bit about the show and the progress filming the third season. Take a look below for some assorted highlights — we’ve written some out if you are not in a position to watch it right now.

Jamie’s getting a bow and arrow this season – Sam got a chance to do some training using it, so there could be some fun times ahead with that.

Caitriona on seeing Jamie after twenty years – “It was all right (laughs) … obviously it’s a huge moment for Claire, and for both of them.” Heughan makes it clear that it was a “shock,” but that the print-shop scene will be “hopefully everything [the fans] want it to be.”

On South Africa – Caitriona has been there once before many years ago, as she had a photo shoot there when she was only six years old. Meanwhile, Sam went there previously in order to advertise a beer — and got “nicely” robbed at some point.

On celebrating the New Year – Sam specifically told a story about celebrating the holiday in Amsterdam.

On potentially writing or directing episodes – Balfe would love to, but at the same she acknowledged that it would be incredibly difficult given the schedule.

Caitriona’s most-difficult scene – She specifically referenced the scene where Claire had to tell Jamie about the future, largely because the idea was so “preposterous.”

A quick season 3 tease from Sam – “The season, we open with Culloden, and that was a really big moment.”

On if Balfe’s cat will get a cameo on the show – She’s certainly campaigning for it!

On where the two actors would like to travel someday – Balfe said Mongolia for its “amazing landscape, horses, and lifestyle”; meanwhile, Sam said Antarctica, and he’s hoping to make that happen. As a lover of penguins ourselves, we certainly endorse this idea.
