‘Supergirl’ season 2 trailer teases Livewire, Guardian, and a whole lot more

Livewire -Let’s start off this “Supergirl” article with a big statement: This is the best trailer that The CW has ever released for this show. You get a little bit of comedy, but more importantly a lot of action and drama. Also, you get a fantastic setup to the return of Livewire, a villain that this show should be doing more with than they are.

We saw Brit Morgan as this character through two episodes of the first season, and the more we see of her, the more we feel like she’s perfectly suited for a lengthier story arc just because she’s everything you want in a villain. For one, she’s completely unhinged. You want to get the sense that your villain will do almost anything to get their way, and Livewire is the sort of character we could see senselessly murdering CatCo employees or people she perceives to be close to Supergirl. She loves vengeance, and doesn’t seem to have much of a moral conscience slowing her down along the way. Remember here that she was hardly all that great of a person even before she was granted these sort of powers.

Elsewhere in the trailer, we’ve got a lot of the Guardian out in the field, with James Olsen defending his actions by saying that he feels more comfortable in this outfit on the streets than he’s ever felt as Superman’s photographer or an everyday guy at CatCo. You also have Mon-El embracing more of his potential as a superhero, likely realizing at this point how dangerous this world is and how big of an asset he can be. There could be a little more Alex / Maggie in the trailer, but at the same time this is more of a trailer focusing on heroes and villains that romance. (Sure, Kara and Mon-El have had their moments, but their recent kiss isn’t referenced at all here.)
