‘Chicago PD’ season 4, episode 12 preview: Is tension coming between Rixton, Voight?

Chicago PDTonight, “Chicago PD” is airing a new episode where a private police force is going to take center stage for most of the hour. This is not your typical case, given that Voight and Intelligence are going to have to take on a threat that is very much different than any that they typically tend to face.

So where are we going beyond this moving into the next new episode “Sanctuary”? Well, let’s just say that early indications suggest that this episode is going to be very much nontraditional in its own way. After all, you’re going to get an opportunity to see a case where religion and the sanctity of a church gets involved — and as a result of that, creates a potential nightmare scenario for the team. They have to find a way in order to continue to do their job, while at the same time also figure out how to do so without making it appear as though they are aggressively going after a priest and some members of its congregation.

Synopsis – “After a female jogger is brutally murdered in the park, Rixton (guest star Nick Wechsler) and Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins) arrive to see two suspects fleeing the scene. When the men make their way inside a church, the priest and parishioners gather outside to block law enforcement from entering. While investigating the case, Rixton gets caught in a lie with Voight (Jason Beghe).”

To go along with all of the church drama in this episode, the idea of tension between Rixton and his former colleague Voight sounds interesting. Could this be something that eventually brings Ruzek back into the fold? It’s a fair question to ask, but at the same time there’s nothing about this synopsis alone that suggests this will be the case.

Promo – This continues along the promo, and focuses largely on the church that we’ve discussed previously. Sadly, there is no mention of the Voight cliffhanger at the end of tonight’s episode, where it was revealed that he and Bunny have a history that could prove problematic in terms of him possibly being Lindsay’s father.
