‘Gotham’ season 3, episode 12 spoilers: More details on ‘Ghosts,’ Jerome’s return
How in the world is Jerome returning to “Gotham“? It’s been the question of the hour ever since the news was revealed in a promo many weeks ago, and we’re now back with a little bit more in the way of insight.
Today, Fox released some of the latest details from “Ghosts,” the January 16 winter premiere that features Cameron Monaghan back playing his signature part. However, the synopsis below offers up no guarantee that this character will still be alive:
“Falcone places a hit on Gordon after learning that he shot Mario. Gordon and Bullock discover a follower of Jerome (guest star Cameron Monaghan), who plans to bring him back to life. Meanwhile, Penguin spirals out of control before the biggest television interview of his Mayoral career, and Bruce and Selina deal with Selina’s mom’s return to Gotham.”
The photo above of Oswald really speaks for itself when it comes to how he’s handling everything going on around him, and we have to figure that this is especially music to the ears of Edward Nygma given his desire to, with the help of Barbara Kean, emotionally destroy him out of revenge for Isabella’s death.
In getting back to the Jerome part of the equation (we recognize that this is what almost everyone out there is understandably the most curious to have answers for), it’s understandable to want to get this character breathing again. He’s one of the most terrifying villains the show’s created through three seasons. Yet, we’d argue that there are ways to use Monaghan without bringing him back to life, and that may be the best way to go about doing business right now. Otherwise, you run a dangerous risk that fans start to think that being dead means just about nothing with this show. You’ve already created that image in part with Theo Galavan and Fish Mooney.

If they want to save that show they had better take the focus off Ben McKenzie (no offense) and focus on the real star of the show: Robin Lord Taylor. He is the one who got them on the map to begin with.

And just ignore the fact that it all revolves around how the heroes and villains mature. The real issue here is the constant ‘threat’ with the court of owls, I almost doze off every time Mazouz and Bicondova are on screen(the plot simply isn’t intriguing enough).
I’ve grown to like every one of the characters (some more, some less), but the constant love dramas really are annoying. The show could use a big, believable plot twist and a James Gordon who doesn’t miraculously know everything out of a few hunches, instead of doing decent detective work.
I was actually astounded and very sceptical of the Nygma/Cobblepot plot. But it lays a great foundation for evolving Ed, Os and Babs and explains pretty good how Oswald’s way of handling emotion’s work.
I do hope things will get more interesting and action packed again.
