‘Sleepy Hollow’ season 4: Janina Gavankar on joining show, ‘missing’ Abbie

Sleepy -

The fourth season of “Sleepy Hollow” is going to arrive in the new year, and we know that this is going to be one that starts off on a controversial footing. Given the way that the third season ended, how would you expect anything else? The show doesn’t have one of its original stars in Nicole Beharie, and with that we have to see if there is a way that it can stay afloat both in terms of this character and also everything going on around her.

What we do know is that the show’s new star Janina Gavankar is not living under a rock somewhere as she realizes that reactions to her appearing on this show may not be universally positive. As a matter of fact, here is what she had to say to TVLine:

“I’m totally nervous that people are going to hate me. But someone had to take the job, and I was so honored that [Sleepy] called me in the first place. I wasn’t going to say no.”

Gavankar added that she “misses Abbie,” as she’s seen every episode of the show, and that everyone else on the show will as well as they move into the new season. She’s not forgotten; given that her sister Jenny is still an important part of the series, it’d be fairly impossible for there to not be at the very least some mention of her.

When it comes to welcoming someone like Gavankar to the show and saying goodbye to Beharie, we’re all for giving shows a chance given that there are some programs out there that have withstood the loss of a lead and turned out to be very entertaining nonetheless. Take, for example, what we saw on “Monk” over the years when Sharona wasn’t a part of the show anymore; sometimes, things happen and you have to do your best to bounce back from them. You can watch a few episodes, explore the new dynamic, and determine whether or not you want to continue watching based on that.
