‘MacGyver’ episode 12 preview: Nikki returns in ‘Screwdriver’ January 6

Screwdriver -Tonight, “MacGyver” is airing its final episode of the year, and it potentially is a big one given that you’re going to see the characters enjoying the holiday season, while the same exact time also getting a fine opportunity to also learn a little more about the history between Jack and Riley, and how much of the tension between them stems from a relationship that he had with her mother.

Following this, there is the expected holiday hiatus, but compared to some of the other shows on the air right now, this one is not particularly long. You’re going to have a chance to see more of the show in action starting on the January 6 episode that bears with it the title of “Screwdriver,” and judging from what we’re seeing about this episode already, it’s looking like it is easily going to be an important hour in its own right.

Synopsis – “Using a screwdriver and bug spray, MacGyver must find the U.S. government mole who is leaking classified intel to the organization that is trying to take down The Phoenix Foundation. Also, Sarah (Amy Acker) returns to help with the mission, and Nikki (Tracy Spiridakos) reappears, but Mac can’t tell which side she’s on.”

Basically, this episode could be a sort of greatest hits for some of the best guest characters the show has presented to us so far over the series’ run. Not only are we getting the return of Nikki and a little bit more Amy Acker, but executive producer Peter Lenkov told us a little bit earlier this week that Murdoc is also going to be turning up at some point during the episode. For those of you who enjoyed his debut appearance earlier this season, all indications are that this you’ll enjoy this, as well — at least more than the characters do.

As for a screwdriver and bug spray, we’ll at least give the show credit for one of its most unusual combinations to date. How it works out in the story, who knows?
