‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ season 9 premiere review: Moore Manor vs Chateau Sheree

Real Housewives of AtlantaWe may not have Kim Fields or NeNe Leakes on this season of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta”, but our core group of ladies are back for our favorite installment of the franchise and we can’t wait to see what they have been up to. Is Kenya’s house done being renovated? Will we see more of Kandi and “The Old Lady Gang” restaurant? How is Peter and Cynthia’s relationship? Has Phaedra or Porsha found love? And how is Sheree going to fit in with the ladies? Time to find out and we are starting this premiere with some updates.

Kandi: This premiere started with Kandi and Todd’s little bundle of joy – their baby boy named Ace who is adorably cute and wakes up with a big bright smile. If they ever need a babysitter, we are available.

Kenya: Speaking of babies, Kenya has been putting a lot of work into her baby – Moore Manor! Her house is still undergoing renovations, but it’s livable. Is she still with Matt? Nope, she broke up with him after he had a jealous fit, kicked in her door and started throwing her things everywhere. Matt isn’t over Kenya and is still sending her gifts and apologizing, and while it’s hard for her to walk away from him, she just can’t face the heavy anger problems.

Sheree: Now we head down the road to Chateau Sheree (who is a regular housewife this season) and her house is also coming along really well! This house is so over the top gorgeous and is the main reason that we love this show – to see the things we will never have. As far as Sheree and Bob, they are not together.

Phaedra: She may have filed for divorce last year, but it is still being dragged out because Apollo doesn’t want to end his marriage. As much as he’s contesting the divorce, it looks like it’s going through in a months time and Phaedra is starting to feel like she wants to get out and start meeting people again.

Cynthia: She and Peter have been living apart for 5 months now and they are moving forward with a divorce as well, but Peter is not dealing with it well and wants to work things out. This is a couple we have really been rooting for on this show, because through all of their troubles you could see a lot of love there, but as we all know sometimes we need more then love and that seems to be the case here.

Porsha: We have seen a few situations that have gotten pretty heated for Porsha and it is something that she has been working on in anger management. We love that Porsha has decided to take control of her own destiny and work on this issue – it takes a very strong person to face something about themselves that they may not like.

The first party of the season is being thrown by Kenya to celebrate Moore Manor finally coming together and although it came down to the last moment to get the place together, it’s ready for company. As soon as Sheree gets there, she and Kenya start throwing shade over who’s house is further along, who’s house is taking longer to be completed, and who’s house is more fabulous. The first bit of drama for the season comes courtesy of Phaedra as she has asked Porsha to be her plus one to Kenya’s house even though she wasn’t invited by Kenya on purpose.

We only have one actual housewives left on this show this season as everyone else is single or getting a divorce, so that’s a little sad to see since we do enjoy the relationships on this franchise. So far no drama since they left us with a “to be continued” with Porsha arriving at Kenya’s house. It was a great premiere in terms of getting us up to speed on what the ladies have been up to and we were happy to see that everyone’s trying to get themselves into a better place in their lives. Episode grade: B+
